Rebuilding a Chimney with Stone Veneer in Richardson, TX

Upon arrival, our team found that the original chimney had been constructed using full-sized stone, which was too heavy for the chimney frame to support. In addition, the weight of the stone had caused the chimney to collapse sideways, damaging the shingles and exposing the attic to the elements and animals.

To address the issue, we knew that we not only had to rebuild the chimney but also reframe the structure to ensure that it could support the weight of the stone. However, we didn’t stop there. To further reduce the weight of the chimney, we used a stone veneer where we cut 80% of the stone while still maintaining the same aesthetic as the original chimney. This allowed us to ensure that the chimney looked just as good without the excessive weight that caused the initial collapse.
