When this Fort Worth homeowner reached out to Shepherd Roofing & Renovations, they were dealing with an active interior leak caused by hail and wind damage. Over time, the damage to the shingles and roof components allowed water to penetrate the system, eventually showing up inside the home. After a full roof inspection, it was clear this wasn’t a situation where spot repairs would solve the problem. The roof system had sustained widespread damage, and a full roof replacement was the safest and most reliable long-term solution.
This home had multiple roofing issues common to North Texas storm damage, including:
Our goal was to remove the failing roof system entirely and install a new, high-performance asphalt shingle roof built to handle Fort Worth’s harsh weather conditions.
We began by removing the existing roofing system down to the sheathing to fully assess the condition of the roof deck. Any loose decking was re-nailed to ensure a solid base, and the entire surface was inspected for rot or deterioration.
Where damaged wood was discovered, it was replaced to restore the structural integrity of the roof. A strong roof starts with a solid deck, and this step is critical to preventing future issues.
Once the deck was properly prepared, we installed a high-quality synthetic underlayment across the entire roof to provide a durable secondary moisture barrier. In addition, ice and water shield was installed along all valleys and roof penetrations.
This layered protection is especially important in Fort Worth, where wind-driven rain and hailstorms can force water into vulnerable areas of the roof.
To protect the roof edges and prevent wind uplift, new 1.5-inch drip edge was installed along all eaves and rakes. We then installed Atlas Pro-Cut starter strip shingles along gutter lines, rake edges, and valleys.
These details help lock the shingle system in place and ensure proper water shedding during heavy storms.
The new roof was finished with Atlas Pinnacle Pristine AR Limited Lifetime dimensional shingles, installed according to manufacturer specifications using proper fasteners. These shingles were selected for their durability, algae resistance, and performance in Texas climates.
To complete the system, Atlas Pro-Cut hip and ridge shingles were installed, giving the roof a clean, finished appearance while maintaining proper ventilation and protection along the ridgelines.
All existing flashing was carefully inspected and replaced where necessary to ensure a watertight seal at critical transition points. We also replaced all roof vents, pipe jacks, and gas caps, sealing all exposed fasteners and painting roof components to match the shingles.
Proper flashing and penetration work is one of the most important aspects of leak prevention, and we take extra care in these areas.
As part of the full roof replacement, the homeowner chose to upgrade to a Class 4 impact-resistant shingle system for enhanced storm protection. This system is designed to withstand winds up to 130 mph and hail up to 2 inches in diameter.
In addition to increased durability, this upgrade offers improved moisture protection and long-term performance, making it an excellent choice for homes in hail-prone areas like Fort Worth.
Throughout the project, our in-house, insured crews followed strict safety protocols and maintained a clean, organized job site. Landscaping and surrounding areas were protected, and all roofing debris was removed once the project was complete.
We believe professionalism extends beyond the roof itself—it includes how we treat the homeowner’s property during the entire process.
This Fort Worth full roof replacement is backed by a 10-year workmanship warranty from Shepherd Roofing & Renovations, along with a lifetime manufacturer warranty on the roofing materials.
These warranties provide long-term peace of mind, ensuring the homeowner is protected well beyond the completion of the project.
With this project complete, the home now has a durable, storm-ready roofing system built to handle Texas weather for years to come. The homeowner can rest easy knowing their roof was installed correctly, using quality materials and proven installation practices.
